After about a year and a half, I made a trip to the dentist this morning.  It was my first time at the Profesisonal Drive Dental Group in Northfield.  That's a picture of Dr. Noack with a patient.  My wife and daughter had a cleaning here six months ago and really liked the place.  It was an expensive tooth count for my daughter's visit though.  This morning, I took my wife's 6-month cleaning appointment, and she stayed home with our daughter who stayed home from school because of her low-grade fever yesterday.

As an aside, there's good news.  The fever broke.  Yeah!

I was a few minutes late to the appointment as I wanted to make up my hour of missed work before I left, and I was able to get my occupancy and weekly reports in without issue.  Because of my 8 AM start, I don't think I'll need to put in the extra hour later this afternoon :)

Anyway, the dental trip went well.  I've continued my no cavities (ever) streak and my gums appear to be getting a little better.  I really like the doctor and staff.  If you live in Northfield, check them out.

It seems like we've been making an awful lot of trips to the doctor recently.  This afternoon, we got a surprise.  Our daughter was ridiculously chatty with both the nurse and doctor.  She asked them a bunch of questions regarding the window, computer, wall color, bed, eye chart, ad their equipment.  We left with not only a Snow White sticker, but also a surprise...our daughter not only has strep, but an ear infection as well!  Yeah!  (Not really.)  Looks like we're not going anywhere in the near future.  One last thing, why is it when I go to the doctor, I always leave feeling like I have significantly more symptoms than when I arrived?  One thought of the word "strep" and it feels like my throat just swells up.

    ...like it does right now.

I'm not impressed.  I want to chug my daughter's amoxicillin, just in case.

I walked into the bedroom, checked out the TV, saw that my wife wasn't watching the Grammy's.  Here's how the conversation went:

Ross: "Hey, why aren't you watching the Grammy's?"

Wife: "Because every time I've turned to it, I haven't cared what's on."

Ross: Walking away under his breath, "Exactly."

Yesterday was our last day at our current dance studio.  The number of students have dropped a bit since the first class, and I now understand why.  Last week, my wife commented that the song I most enjoyed watching the class "perform" was a regular activity at her work.  Yesterday, the instructor and hat looked like a couple ninth graders played a counting song that matched the five different ballet positions.  I wish I could remember the song.  It's very common.  It was something Americana like Yankee Doodle, but a counting down from five to one.  The toddlers had no idea what was going on as they ran through first, second, third, fourth, and fifth positions.  However, when the pulled out the tambourines and drums to walk in a circle to the music, I grabbed my car keys and headed out the door.

We can, and do, do that stuff at home.  I'm not interested in paying tuition for activities we do in the apartment.

So, I headed up the street and grabbed a flyer from another studio.  When we got home, I made the phone call, and she'll start next week.  Unfortunately, our current studio won't miss her because they already have our money, and couldn't call her by name when she got out of the circle towards the end of yesterday's class.

After I hung up the phone, I sent a handful of messages to my wife.  She was attending a conference for work in St. Paul, and found my attitude quite humorous.

The new studio is more expensive, but after talking the the owner over the phone, should provide a significantly different learning opportunity for my daughter.  The class happened to be starting at the time I picked up the flyer, and I noticed a smaller class size, among other things.  This is probably due to cost (and maybe popularity?).  It's going to be more expensive, but she'll actually learn (a) routine(s), have a costume, perform in a recital (May 20) and need ballet and tap shoes (which we already have).  So, I'm looking forward to the new class.  I'm going to miss looking at the sweet purchasable studio gear.  I really was looking forward to buying some of it as Linnea grew; however, neat colored sweatshirts and jackets isn't a good enough reason to stick around.  Perhaps the new place has gear for sale?  If not, we can always make some.

Honestly, why can't I win a game paying against my daughter.  We sat down to play Candyland, and the second card she drew was an ice cream cone.  Added to the double colors she got after, she won in a matter of minutes.

Let's see what happens now that she's opened Cootie.

I should talk to my wife about starting a website, blog, or perhaps a Facebook page dedicated to "Things my daughter says but really shouldn't."  I could model it after this one, but less vulgar of course.  I'd have to say that for a three year old, she's wicked smart.  In fact, I would call it too smart for her own good.  Other than my previous posts, here's the most recent comment:

"Hey. Hey. Hey.  Daddy.  Could you help a girl out and throw away this empty pudding container?"

I think she got that one from her Grandpa Jungers.

This week is Interim break for the college, so there aren't specific daily responsibilities or meetings.  I'll be spending afternoons this week with my daughter, and if it goes anything like today, it will be quite an adventure.  Last week, I participated in a couple hour "parent day" at my daughter's preschool.  After a parental group discussion, we went into the classroom and participated in a song and craft time making snowflakes using popsicle sticks, glue, glitter glue, and regular glitter.  After proper drying, they were brought home.  This afternoon, she announced loudly, "I have named my snowflakes.  Would you like to play with them?"

Blue (reader's right) - A girl named Buknora.

Multicolored (reader's left) - A boy named Atnora.

Yes, she named the snowflakes after her cousin, Nora.  She loves Nora very much.  In fact she told my wife and I multiple times in the car on our way to church yesterday morning.

I was reading a fellow dailymiler's latest blog post when I noticed the computer getting a life of its own.  The cursor went crazy, text started to highlight itself in multiple places.  I started closing windows and almost ran a virus scan.  That's when I looked up and snapped these pictures.

My daughter had found the mouse.  She no longer has access to it, and I can go back to reading.

So, I've spent the last couple of hours online trying to straighten out multiple social media sites.  It's been frustrating to say the least.  Lining up Blogspot, Ping.fm, and tumblr is harder than I imagined.  RSS feeds aren't working properly.  SMS messages aren't going through. Maybe if I get some sleep I'll wake up and find everything is working just fine. ...doubtful.
